I've never done this and I don't think I could bring myself to... I'd hate anyone else nosing through my private messages, even if I don't have anything to hide. I rely on my instincts and trust, rather than sneakiness. Imho if you don't trust someone enough without sneaking through their texts/emails to find out what they're doing (or not) then the relationship is wrong already.
