the higher the derrier (have I spelt it right?) the thicker the tights.
I've even seen people wear leggings and to me it's looked like footless tights. I have thicker tights that I wear in the winter, though I tend to wear them under trousers (I wouldn't risk wearing a skirt in scottish winters!), so yes, certain tights can keep your legs warm. |

Seriously now, I have worn tights and they DO give you added warmth far above what you would expect from such a thin material.
I wore them when out playing soldiers in the wilds of Norway back in the late 60's. There was no such thing as thermal underwear back in those days and the sergeants who had done it all before told us to wear 2 pairs of tights at all times. |
