addy swappin an chat room closure

ok i see its happened again and i really dont blame admin for shuttin chat down while they think wot to do..i dont agree wiv addy swappin in chat rooms or forums.. but instead of every1 moanin an complainin about the rule breakers why not try an *** up wiv sum suggestions on how to make it better for every1 its too easy to go off rantin at ppl but it does not help the situation..does it..im sure admin wud welcome some ideas on how to improve it..ok im pretty new to the internet so im not sure how it all works but from wot i gather most sites are not like this 1 and such is the nature of ppl there is always goin to be those that want to swap details..we are social creatures by habit..its only natural..so my thoughts on the matter are this..i only see a few options which are..close it down alltogther an be done wiv it..keep it as it is an keep bannin ppl or keep addys banned from forums an chat rooms but allow it on the home page msg bit..where no 1 will see so if ppl do want to get in touch they can do wivout upsettin any1.. these are jus sum possitive thoughts rather than moanin an complainin about it..we need to help out i think as its are site too..its easy to sit back an do nothin..iv done it meself but we need to get involved if we want this place to work..now im probably gonna get shot down for my suggestions but at least im tryin to think of sum thing..so get ya thinkin caps on ppl..an stop moanin..

all i can suggest is bye bye newbies, keep the regs! I know not every newbie is like that coz we were all newbie's and we arnt but its hard to tell who isnt and who is.... thats the whole point of admin/hosts... if a newbie comes in and is fine like us they become regs like we all have but if there little numpty's/mongs they get booted. how else are u gonna seperate the numpty's from the nice one's? If somebody has the answer please tell me!

I totally agree with Dazz, we all need to have a think and come up with some ideas. It is our room too and we have to help admin sort this out. I think all the regs are pretty good at telling folk not to give out addys etc and we are all aware of the rules. Most of us come in the room to have a laugh not to put up with hassle. As admin say there are plenty other sites for that sort of thing. Im not really sure how this can be resolved but I hope a solution is found soon and we can all get back to chatting soon.

It aint newbies thats the problem, we need newbies to keep coming in more than anyone in the long run, cos there what turns into regs, its the regs that piss admin off when they break the rules , newbies break rules cos they dont know about em but regs should know better.


and i am sooo peed off myself cos ive gotta sit through a crappy football match now grrrrrrrrrrr

Think dazz has made a good point here, as a reletive new member myself I have to this site is unique and needs to be kept - that will only happen if WE the members support admin!

Perhaps only allow newbies into one room and only let them become members and use other areas of the site if and when they are reccommended by a user who has been a member for a given amount of time

Any other thoughts out there?

We were all newbies once and i agree with Jazzy, we cant close the room to them as they become regs. Maybe admin should have a word with the reg who has been breaking the rules, if not ban them. Its such a shame one person has caused this disruption, although I know its not the first time. I have to clean instead!!!! lol

You're quite right dazzy - we need to start taking action and making suggestions, rather than just moaning about it. So here's my thoughts... for what they're worth lol. Unfortunately I think there will always be some regs who get to the stage, in chatting with someone for a long time, that they are willing to take the risk and exchange addys, hoping admin won't notice. I think the only way you will stop regs ever doing this is to make it ok for members to private msg their details to each other through wocchat, as dazz suggested. I know that goes against the rules as they stand at the moment, but if the two options are (1) close woc or (2) allow private exchanging through msgs in wocchat, then i'd prefer the second option. Perhaps it's a silly idea (or an impractical one), but what about if it was only allowed after members had been regs for a certain period of time - say 6 months or so. After that period, I'd say you're as sure as you can be that they're here to stay and that they aren't just looking for new *** buddies.

Personally, the only reason I'd ever want to exchange any details with someone these days is if I was going to be passing through their neighbourhood and wanted to meet up for a coffee. I'd much rather be in a chat room with u guys than stuck on *** talking one-on-one with people. If you want to talk one-on-one then we can all use pm or whisper!

I watched An Inconvenient Truth this afternoon, cos I couldn't get into chat lol... am going to become a greenie now! For those of you who haven't seen it, watch it!
