Lightbulb Not a dig at the site so please don't take it like that

I'm new on here and...

I know that by doing this straight off the bat I am risking getting abused or worse fully banned but I feel the need to say this somewhere.

This site is the first site in a long time which is great, its clean, amusing and most people are nice. Very odd I'm sure you will agree. So in effect I like it.

But I have come across a problem... I understand that to make this site what it is there are rules in place, and I agree to abide by any rules set. This is only expected and right to protect both users and hosts. But when these rules are unclear and you are new it becomes an issue. I am talking about the use of bad language. The rules only state that offensive language is not permitted. This in itself is difficult to navigate as everyone's definition of offensive is different. Forgive me if I hit on any of them in here but I'm trying to make what I feel is a valid point...

To me the term arse is not offensive and the two admins in the newbie room agreed, but, another user had been warned against that same word previously by what I now assume to be a different administrator.

A user in the room I was in was not allowed to use **** as it is considered offensive... I would not consider either **** or ****e to be so...

An admin said to one reply of mine 'Why do you feel the need to swear', they wouldn't listen to my point which was exactly that, I didn't think it was a swear.

When I tried to actually talk to the admins about this there wasn't much of a response barring one who out and out said... 'i dont care about other ppl, i find it offensive thats all u need to worry about' Hmmmm, so does that mean that every admin also has a different idea on what offensive actually is?!?

One admin I ran into was quite rude, even when I tried to make it clear I was not taking the proverbial.

All I'm trying to say is... if you are going to enforce a rule, which is perfectly acceptable and within your right to do, then unify it!

Default Context is Everything !

Hi there

Its impossible to write rules covering everything and covering every context of every use of every swear word.

The user that was removed from the room while you were there, was removed for saying the S word yes, but only because he kept saying it over and over when he was told not to !

You can more or less say what you like on World of Chat people swear we would prefer them not to of course, but once its directed at another user that becomes different and also if we tell you to do something we expect you to do it, if you dont follow simple directions you get removed from the chat.

I think other users will agree this isnt a problem on World of Chat, and was just something that happened in your first encounter in the chat room, its nothing you need to worry about.

The admin on our site are not rude, we are direct and we dont suffer fools easily, this is not being rude !

It might be a good idea to ask around with some of the regular chatters and ask them about their experiances on here, you will see that you have no need to worry about the issues you have raised.

As woc says, pixie, don't worry about it - the admin team and the hosts are pretty chilled out and, so long as you use swear words in a non-offensive context (ie directing abuse at someone), most language is tolerated in moderation. In my opinion, there are ways of making swear words less offensive - ie fook, bugga, arse, nob... but even these might offend some. The way to proceed is to chat as you normally would in real life, but if someone asks you to stop saying something, respect their wishes - and if an admin/host tells you to stop - then do it or else! lol

Happy chatting!!

ACTUALLY ME AND MY MUM HAD THE SAME CONVO THE OTHER DAY REGARDING MY 2 ELDEST DARLINGS.....(SOZ CAPS)
one had borrowed the other her trainers in return for the other to wear her jumper, one daughter happily wore the borrowed trainers but wouldnt borrow the jumper when the time came, so the other daughter saw her chance one morning and ran out to college with the jumper on!! ( this was all going on at 7am i must add)
Daughter 2 heard the front door slam and the shuffle of running feet down the street, she proceeded to open up the bedroom window and scream GET MY JUMPER OFF NOW!! to no avail ..So daughter 2 got out of bed and ran down the street in her PJ's after the fully clothes albiet borrowed clothed daughter,
From what i can gather ( after an investigation at teatime) they had a disagrrement at the bus stop, thus bringing both daughter 1 and 2 home to continue the boxing match ( of all places) at the top of the stairs where i was in bed after throwing up most of the night (been ill with flu)
Well sorry to bore you all but my point is the air was blue, never in my life have i heard my daughters say anything more in a rage to one another than the odd farmyard animal etc,
This argument was so different to the coo's and ga ga's i once heard so many years ago..........
I dont mind swearing hell chubby brown is as blue as the sky on a sunny day but i love him, but to hear it from my angels was summat different altogether, and i wont tolerate it! its horses for course's init, just abide by the rules and no one gets hurt, same in here if thats one of the rules regardless of whether you like it or not, its a rule, we are all different thats what makes the world go round...to enforce a no swearing ban is a good thing as it wont alienate some people that aint into it, ........cheers
