Default X-Box problems

Anyone here have an X-Box? Since it's launch the failure rate of these gaming consoles has been high. My son has returned 2 in the last 6 months, thankfully he'd taken out a 3 year insurance so was able to get a brand new one each time.

One has to question why these gaming houses release these consoles on the general market before ensuring all 'glitches' and potential 'failures' are sorted.

Has anyone else experienced the same problems?

Hi i hadthe same problem and it is a regular problem with the 360.They call it the ring of death and it's down to the processor heating up and warpping the mother board. The fans or crap and arenot strong enough to cool the system down and microsoft know this yet still sells the product. Also i have come across sony have a problem with their console and it is down to their blueray reader/lense it cracks/faulty and it cost a good couple of quid to replace. Is there no one out there who can produce a quality product without a short life span?

The xbox doesn't fail because the board bends lol .

Its fails because the CPU in the board isn't soldered correctly to the xbox 360 and this cause the solder to fracture were it connects to the PCB. You can use several methods to fix the problem and all the methods involve heating up the PCB / CPU inside the xbox 360 to cause the solder to re flow and this fixes the problem.

The reason for the problem is the factory were they were made is on a budget by Microsoft and they have to make these as cheap as possible so that they keep the contract with Microsoft. Due to this fact they use sub standard procedure to make the hardware and this in turn is were the hardware fails.

Its all down to economics and the life span of the console. Console are not made to last beyond 3 years.

Thanks for the clear up on this but if this was the case then would it not be down to the over heating of the machine in the first place for this to happen.Obtaining informacion from 5 diff chat rooms and web sites this is a commen problem with x-box and has been highly recomended to obtain external fans. The info i received was the over heating causes the(solder) to crack/flow freely causeing a faulty connection thus producing the rings of death.

The newer HDMI xbox versions have a new heat sink inside to help cooling it down. The problem is still there just takes longer to show ...
