someone help!!

my friends computer was working fine yesterday but now when she tries to open internet explorer nothing happens..her broadband is working so its not a connection problem..i have tried to get the ip number from it to pass it on to someone who could fix it but the ip number doesnt even come up...its as if the settings have been changed..does anyone have any ideas?

i sometimes get this, it looks as though the connection is fine but still can't access the internet. Usually find if you turn off the modem for 10 seconds then switch back on, the connection comes back on.
If the connection is fine as you say, maybe try a different internet surfer like Firefox or Google Chrome. Sometimes Internet Explorer can have problems.

yeah i thought of a different surfer but nothing works, the BT broadband guy said that it seems that some settings on computer has changed, he didnt know either..gonna have to get someone to sort it...really pissing me off as i know its something really simple ffs...it is loading but i just cant see it...grrrr

cant u go bacvk to a restore point see if this helps go back to a time before the problem happend good luck

i had that and it was to do with the firewall settings

i had that sultry an tried all that it needs someone who noes wat to do to set it all bk up cus thats wat me son did an i aint a clue how he did it hope it gets sorted he just cliked away an it all came bk with no explanation why it did all that pmsl

right i went into the computer in safe mode (f8 button on restart)..it works now as long as she doesnt close down the home page, im wondering if leaving it on safe mode does any harm? anyone know?

leaving it in safe mode is fine (hence the name i guess, lol) just that you won't be able to access many programs. Maybe try System Restore to take the computer back to a time when it was working.
