Lightbulb Xmas after math and snow aftermath

Hi all,
well xmas is over now. But only bugbare now is that there are still shops still selling xmas items at bargin prices still. Its rediculas, i know its after stock and they need to sell it off, but come on am sure there is somesort of limit especually food, with there expire dates. Plus theres still some people where i live STILL has there xmas decore up.

As for snow, its very dangerous and going on too long, glad its slowly thawing out, but its been too long. Its been too cold and hard to get about.

How have you all coped.

Had much the same problems here as you've described. Despite raining all night there's still a lot of snow that hasn't melted and its still very slippery out. There are also still Christmas decorations up in the town as no council workers have been seen doing anything since before Christmas. Shops too are still selling Christmas stuff including our local Sainsburys. And its mad. The binmen have yet still to start regular collections so there's piles of rubbish everywhere. Unbelievable. At least the buses and taxies can start running normally again and the kids can get back to school.

The snow we had caused total havoc with everything grinding to a halt, yet the council did nothing to help the people. Just the big main roads were gritted but none of the smaller roads and certainly no pedestrianised bits such as pavements. There were so many people falling everywhere, all because there's a stupid law that says Councils have a duty to clear roads but not pavements otherwise they can get sued if anyone falls and hurts themselves. People were also warned not to clear snow from their paths as again they could be sued if anyone fell. This country has gone totally barking with all its Health & Safety rules.

This time of the year has got to be one of the most depressing. All the weeks and weeks of hype concerning Christmas all gone in a flash. People are now coming to terms with the fact they've overspent and panicking how to pay off their maxed out credit cards and the recession isn't over either and still businesses are going under and people losing their jobs. So overall not a very happy start to 2010.
