how do i find out who a mobile number belongs to?

cant ring it as they dont answer...is there some kind of directory on line that u dont have to pay for?

just type the number into google, it usually comes up with a list of companies that it could be from. Ive had strange numbers too and when ive googled them, it comes up with all sorts of weird companies, and comments from other people who have had trouble with these numbers too.
