Oh Man....I Really can't telll...Help!

Does this sound like a lie to you. If you text someone. "I'm gonna keep this brief, someone is sending me emotional emails and wanted to ask if it is you" They respond:"No it is not me, I'm not emailing anyone. I don't even have this number in my phonebook. Who is this?"

I know its hard for you to make a real judgement without knowing all the information. Basically I think this person is sending me anonymous emails and I'm trying to catch him out by confronted them. But just based on the psychological response, Does it sound like the persons lying and why?

Put them directly in the trash,, don't read them,,, I wouldn't give them the time of day
