Looking in the mirror, through eyes as cold as ice
I notice the expressions, are lines of sacrifice A face etched full of memories, of a long gone youth Marked from years of trying, to mask the hidden truth Worn from times of struggle, so tired and unsure Pale from all the worries, I've had to endure Stains of long cried tears, lay upon my skin Showing on the outside, what I have felt within Eyes are filled with sorrow, the sparkle long since gone And once where I could see a smile, I find that there is none Traces show the sadness, with age of passing time And all the desperation, shows in every line Everything looks faded, there is no dignity It hurts to see what others see, looking back at me Weary scars of bitterness, can't help but show through Engraved deep within each curve, to reveal the life I knew Drawn from vast experience, detailed to the last Scarred from all the battles, fought throughout my past And as I turn my head away, it cuts me like a knife To know that I am looking at, reflections of my life |
