Kitten Behaviour

First of all, hello to all!

I'm new here and the main reason i've joined is because i tend to get very bored at work and need something to kill the time, i read online that joining an active forum can kill time and provide some great entertainment and even friends!

So anyway, heres for the first thread..

Myself and my partner recently bought a kitten... we named him Bruce and have had him for about a month now... We are first time kitten/cat owners so it has been a real eye opener for us.

He is now 12 weeks old and he has a split personality.. one minute he is lying all over us purring away, the next minute he is running around and runs away when ever we try to pick him up.. he likes to wrestle with our hands using his claws and teeth!

We have decided to keep him as a house-cat as we don't want to let him get run over or attacked by other animals... and we understand that we need to keep him very active and amused. We have bought him lots of toys which he occassionally plays with, but he absoloutely LOVES the laser pen.. he will chase it for hours which is fantastic before bed time as it tires him right out!

I've been looking online at CATNIP... which apparently makes them have a few moments of pleasure? I don't know.. any tips on that? Also anyone got any tips on how to keep a kitten amused and happy??

ah lol i have 2 cats... they love catnip... its gd for housecats but try not to give them to much or they end up runiing round the wall like a motorbike on the wal of death at he fair !!!

biting and grabbing u with his paws is him playing just let him know ur limits or he will give u a nasty one when he gets older... you also might wanna get his man apples cut off when he reaches maturity cos thats when he will start marking his territory and it smells trust me !!! ...

My 2 dont really bither with the laser pen they get out and into the forest at the back of the house ... we have loads of wildlife in there like foxes and badgers and we have never had any problems with them attackin Wallie or Bella...

I have 4 cats 1 male and 3 female, one of my females was a house cat but shes now decided these past couple of months to venture out side and she loves it. she dont even attempt to go out the garden tho so theres no chance of her getting to the road.
I do have a scratch post which the cats love, its saves them ragging there claws through your sofas or walls, which they will do if bored.
As for biting and clawing you, thats just ur kittens way of playing, learn to be quick at moving ur hand tho or he will get ya lol
mine also used to love hanging from the alsatians tail too lol
which she wasnt too keen on , anyhows kittens are much fun so enjoy ur puss
