Are the folk who watch things like Big Brother, X-Factor, I'm a celeb etc and take it seriously, right in the head?
Are they not fully aware that it is all pre-arranged? Can anybody imagine what would happen if, on one of the talent (lol) shows, the punters backed by Simon Cowell and the Irish bloke got kicked out by the voting public after the first round? I see all these people banging on about these shows as if they have become a major part of their lives when, in reality, it's just a TV programme designed to get money out of the public's pocket and into the pockets of the TV programme makers. Has anybody even stopped to think how much money the nation pays in phone charges every time there is a chance to cast a vote. The numbers are staggering and the sad thing is that none of it counts. The guy or gal or group that was designated as the winners 3 months before the first show aired on TV are going to win no matter how many votes they and the other acts get. And let's not forget how honest all the TV channels have been in the past with regards to telephone voting figures. OK, I ain't saying, "Don't watch the programmes". That would be far beyond my right to do. What I'm trying to say is, "Watch them for the sake of being entertained but don't take any of them seriously. They're just TV shows when all said and done" Take care and have a Merry Christmas. Steve xx |

No ,you ARE right in the head! There are programmes designed around "thinkers" Re BBC 3/4 and there are those which prey on the less cerebrial!
In my eyes programmes such as X-Factor ,Big Brother etc are cheap and nasty to produce but gather huge audiences on the back of the "sink estate audience"! I for one REFUSE to watch such trash and refuse also to join discussion of such albeit to denegrate! So NO Steve,I totally think that you are NOT alone in your thoughts. |
