Okay, "tin hat" time lol:
The trouble with Michael Jackson is that he totally divides opinion and as a result it doesn't take a rocket scientist to know that there would be a fair bit of piss-taking going on. I woke up on Friday morning to 2 joke texts, and by the end of the day I must've received upwards of 25 different jokes. I'm sure I wasn't the only one either - how many people on here can say, hand on heart, that they haven't laughed at a single bad-taste joke about Michael Jackson over the last few days? Or about any other famous person for that matter? And unless anyone on here knew him personally I don't think there's any point in getting too upset about it. It's the out-pouring of grief and crocodile tears from people who didn't even know the bloke that I can't abide. It's like Princess Diana all over again - people crying more over the death of someone they don't know than the death of a member of their own family. How messed up is that?
For the record, I thought his music from the Off The Wall and Thriller albums was outstanding - Billie Jean is one of the greatest songs I've ever heard. But as a person, I didn't particularly like him. The child abuse allegations have been done to death but I doubt very much that he was innocent of any wrongdoing whatsoever - someone who thinks sharing a bed with someone else's kids is okay needs a reality check. Dangling your baby over a hotel balcony is unbelievably stupid. As for the alleged child abuse, he might not have been convicted in a court of law but then again neither was OJ Simpson and most people are comfortable in assuming he was guilty, despite his acquittal. The thing I can't get out of my head is that if MJ was totally innocent, why pay 20 million dollars to Jordy Chandler in an out-of-court settlement? Of course, some might say why would Jordy Chandler's family accept the money rather than see justice done, but when it comes down to one person's word against another you've next to no chance of getting a conviction and he'd have most probably been acquitted anyway, guilty or not.
