July 7th 2012
Today, is the first time in my life I can say I'm genuinely ashamed to be British. This date, seven years ago, fifty two people lost their lives as a result of the London bombings, these were real people, with families and friends. Every single one of them, had something to live for, none of them needed to die on that day. An act of terrorism snatched their lives from them. But that's not what disgusts me the most, yes the bombings were awful, but what seems worse still is that us British people, the ones who were so quick to condemn these acts of violence, seven years on, appear to have forgotten. On twitter, all day "One Time" has been trending. As a country, we should be ashamed. How we can have the arrogance to host the Olympics in a matter of weeks, when we hardly seem to care about our own people is ridiculous. The message we've sent out today, is that it's absolutely fine to do these despicable things in our capital city, that it's fine to take innocent people's lives, because in less than a decade, we'll have forgotten about it. What sort of comfort is that, to all those who lost someone they loved on that day.
Rest In Peace to EVERYONE lost on July 7th 2005.
Against terrorism, always.
