3 d Chat rooms

I have been surfing the net lately looking at the new chat rooms that seem to be appearing, it seems that 3d chat rooms are all the rage at the moment.
People would like people to think that this is a new thing, well it isn’t there have been 3d chat rooms around for a long time now, there have also been many environments that encompass chat into their platforms, for example online gaming, most online games have a chat section as part of their multiplayer setup.
So why are 3d chat rooms making a comeback, I think its with the new acceleration of hardware on personal computers that makes these kind of chat rooms more available to people. Also with things like second life and World of Warcraft becoming more popular, its become fashionable.
So is it any good ?
No its not, chatting online is a simple process you type a few words on a screen and send it to someone and they reply, its not about 3d graphics and what colour hair your character has.
As a chat platform places like second life and World of Warcraft don’t work, as the main aim of the game is to customize your area and your character people get so caught up in all this, they forget that there are actually other people there.
