What is Skype
Hi guys
I’m sure a few of you have heard the word Skype mentioned in the chat room at some point, im sure some of you are wondering exactly what Skype is.
Skype is a program that you download, not dissimilar to msn messenger, but it primarily allows you to make free phone calls over the internet.
Skype does allow you to do many other things as well, for example, instant messaging, file transfers, voice and video conferencing. Both of you need to have Skype installed just like with msn messenger to get these features to work.
Skype and mobile phones
With the advance of mobile technology, there are now versions of Skype you can install onto some mobiles, which is really starting to worry the mobile companies, as this in theory would enable you to make free or cheaper calls from your mobile, if you make these calls using Skype, so it should be interesting to see how these companies react.
