World of Chat – Moving Forward !

Hi guys

Its nice to see World of Chat moving forward,  after an unsettling period over the last few months, we are now established as one of the top 20 free chat rooms, which is pretty impressive, and testament to our admin Mr Woc, Tara and holly, as people have said we would never get this far, they were WRONG !

Its nice to see people of all ages mixing, this is how chat rooms should be, they should be ageless and not just full of 20 somethings all looking to chat to 20 somethings, its nice to see people chatting and not just looking for partners too.  I wont be adding local chat rooms or 20s and 30s chat rooms ever, as i feel it would ruin all this.

Just a few reminders for people, if you can try not to ignore the new people that appear in the newbies room (just saying hello to them doesn’t class as chatting to them lol !) I know some of the new people are hard work but its quite hard for some people to come into the chat room, some people have no confidence and find it scary, so you have to be persistent with a few people, some people once they find their feet come out of themselves and really become part of our community. 

This is how you keep a community like this friendly by people making the effort,  as soon as we stop doing this, we will just turn into other chat rooms and we dont want that !

The newbies room is for NEW people only, if regular people want to chat among yourselves you should really go-to the lounge, but this of course depends on how many users are logged in.

You have to realise that we work very hard to get even 1 new person to the site, and imagine if you were new ? or if you had missed out on finding this site because someone had ignored you in the chat room ?

Virtual Pets

Hi guys

I’m sure some of you have noticed our new pets section of the chat forums, I have installed a new mod, this mod enables people to grow their own pet from an egg !

I am not really giving much away about the mod, as I think part of the fun is finding out what it all does, I don’t really know how to use it that well myself lol.

I think ultimately your supposed to get the hardest pet on the forums and get them to fight, but I think most people will just enjoy having their own online pet !

Bebo Worth £417 million ?

Hi there

Just read that Bebo has been sold for £417 million pounds, not bad for something that cost £8,000 to build is it lol !

Am not sure how they reach that kind of valuation for a website really, its mad but if it was my site I wouldn’t be complaining lol.

Aol have bought Bebo, I think mainly to try to complete with face-book, Bebo has over 40 million users, so produces an awful lot of web traffic that is very hard to get, so seems that £417 million is the price lol.

Does seem a bit excessive when essentially its just a site that teenagers flirt on lol, but then I’m a moaning old git anyhow.

I think its probably every webmasters dream to produce a site like Bebo and then have it bought out, so I wish the new found millionaires good luck and best of all they were British !

Top 30 Chat Rooms

Hi guys

Well its now official, World of Chat is in the top 30 chat rooms in the uk according to google, its nice to see all the hard work is starting to pay off, to be listed 25th out of almost a million pages is impressive by anyones standards, hopefully we can get even higher as the goal is to be the number 1 chat room in the uk of course lol !

We also had record numbers on the forums last night, so its nice to see the forums have been busy and the site is slowly picking up.

I have had to shuffle the forums around a little bit, as they seemed to be slowing down a little, hopefully there will be no more problems for now !

Pasting From Word into wordpress

Hi guys

I have been having problems with pasting from Word into Wordpress for a while now and it was starting to drive me mad, as I do a lot of pasting from other chat room resources.

Thanks to James from webmaster talk who told me there is a special feature in Wordpress to deal with this.

Under the Title of your post you have got the icons, click the last icon (next to the question mark icon)

Should give you a new toolbar, on that toolbar there is a paste from Word option.

Spammer Windup !

I have decided to have a bit of a go at winding up one of the 100s of spam email i get each day, this is the email I have received

Greetings to you, 

My name is Mrs Helen Kologo, Iam contacting you because of my intention to invest  in your country. This is why I decided to write you, to tell you about myself,  which I believe you would be of great assistance to me
I am the wife  of late Chief. Kenneth Kologo. My husband was a very wealthy cocoa merchant in Abidjan, the economic capital of Ivory Coast. My husband died  before the start of the political crisis which is going on in our country  Coted’ivoire.

Before the death of my husband on November 2005 in a private hospital
 he secretly called me on his bed side and told me that he has the sum of Eight Million,Five Hundred Thousand United State Dollars. USD($8.500,000)
