Omegle.com

OMEGLE.COM

So what is Omegle.com, its a site that is in some ways quite similar to Chat Roulette, however it has subtle differences, with you also being able to random chat without the use of a webcam, which you cannot do on Chatoulette.com anymore, not sure why really.

Although I am unsure how many people use Omegle.com it is very popular, and has good reporting options, although there was the odd rule breaker on there when I looked.

I find it interesting how webcam chat has evolved over time, although there has still got to be worrys about some of the content shown on these kinds of sites, unfortunatly the owners of these sites can only do so much to stop them.

ChatRoulette

Hi guys

It seems that chatroulette style chat rooms are dominating the listings now, so its something we may think about implimenting into World of Chat somehow, which would give some extra fun on here.

We are still trying to move the site foward after our security issues, now over 6 months ago, amazing it would take so lone for a site to recover.

123 Flash Chat Support – Lesson 1 know your own software!

I don’t usually post about issues with our chat room developers, and I would like to say this is not a personal attack on 123 Flash Chat, as we still use their software very happily on World of Chat and I have some good friends at 123 Flash Chat, we have also had many different developers like Cloudy, David and many others, of who actually help set up the site nearly 6 years ago.

However I would like to point out the difficulty of support and also show how not reading emails correctly has a negative impact on your customers,  Ive had this problem for 3 weeks now and seemingly no one has a clue, I am pretty fed up of emailing about this problem, so I feel it would be easier to just go through this on here.

The Mystery of the Missing Tick Box !

When I lo-gin to World of Chat, I usually go to the options and then go to sounds and check the following box’s

Ticking this box, means that you don’t hear the chat room noises, the Bing bong of people coming and going and you don’t hear each message that is sent into the main chat, however you DO hear a Bing when someone private messages you.

Our chat no longer Bing’s when someone private messages you with the above check box ticked in the image, Ive explained it in just about every way to 123 Flash Chat, and Ive had some frankly ridiculous replies, and some surreal ones too.

My first reply to my problem is as follows

Hi

Due to the language package problem,there is not such a option “play sound when user receives message” in your room

It is shown as “enable sound notification in all rooms”.

Now in your chat room,when receive a private message,you will have to approve it,if you approve the private message,you will hear the noise

Our test engineer has tested and the sound works.

He is correct there isn’t a play sound when user receives a message its called play sound when user sends message, how ever Ive stated the box that should be ticked, and there is no Bing, I also know the sound works when all the boxes are ticked, but I don’t want to do that!

As you can see I state this in my next email to Flash Chat MY next email:

In  fact Ive just tested it again and it still doesn’t work, I can get it to
make the private message Bing, but it also plays the sounds of the room,
when users send a message there, I don’t want this I just want it to make a
noise when i receive a private message !

So I get another reply from Flash Chat support their reply is here:

Dear there ,

How are you doing there ? Hope you are fine ; so sorry for the late reply  to you ; According to your request ,our developer leader has told me the final solution for you :

change the option to : if checked , users will  hear the ‘ bing ‘ when some others has sent a message in  private  , do not need hear ‘bing’  when there is public message sent.

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

What option ? Where ? final solution, I wish, in fact you haven’t answered anything.

So this prompted my next reply to query as to where the answer is:

*sigh* I’m fact I was so frustrated by this reply I sent another email saying:

I suggest that you can try this setting in admin panel first .

Ive got all those ticked apart from enable typing sound and play sound in monitor panel, so what difference is that going to make? he obviously didn’t check my settings, just assumed I didn’t have something ticked in there.

As you can imagine Im starting to get a bit fed up at this point, my next email isnt so understanding:

HELLO !!!!

My 9th email about this, I fully intend to publish all this on my blog, as
its completely ridiculous !!!

IVE TRYED ALL THAT AND IT STILL DOESNT WORK !

In fact once i tick all the box’s on the admin section, I can hear all the
noises in the chat room even though I have disabled them in my chat options
in the room, its clear to me there is a problem with the way the sounds are
configured, so can you get someone who knows what they are on about to check
it out !!!

NO it still doesn’t work, when i check the options I cannot get it to bing in
my private message without hearing the noises in the room, or it doesn’t bing
at all !

, and the sound works very well . We really can not find the error that you mentioned .
But I found it is very slow when we loaded your chat , so I think maybe that is the reason when you can not hear the sound , the sounds do not load completely , so you can not hear it.
Please check it.

Who said anything about the sounds not working? I certainly didn’t, they just don’t work in the right order when you check the specific options.

This is somewhat of a minor problem, but It goes to highlight the problem with online support via email, as Ive done it myself it doesn’t work effectively and was better when Flash Chat provided live chat support, which is hardly ever available now.

I will forward this to 123 Flash Chat and hopefully sometime in the year 2010, I will get my Bing back as I miss it lol.

All Change At World of Chat !

Hi guys

Sorry I haven’t posted in a long time, but we have had all systems go at World of Chat in the last 6 months.

We have been overhauling our servers and we also got hit by 2 hacker attacks, which damaged a lot of our site.

As I’m sure some of you have noticed the chat rooms got quieter recently, this is down to our site being compromised, this is something that’s hit a number of sites using the same software as us.

We have now solved the issues so hopefully the chat rooms can get back to normal, we are hoping to have a few new additions to the web site too soon.

Chat Room Update

Hi guys

As some of you may have noticed there have been a few upgrades to the chat rooms, we are going to be making a lot more over the coming months, I wont spoil them by telling you what they are yet lol !

You should now notice people who are registered with the chat and not registered have a different colour !

Also you can upload pictures into the chat room now, which might make it easier for people to share pics.

There are going to be a few upgrades over the next month or so, so keep your eyes peeled.

Please note the edit profile feature isnt working at the moment.

As soem of you have probably noticed we not have support for Iphones and Ipod touch.

The chat is easy to use and works perfectly well with all versions of the Iphone and Ipod Touch.

So if you want to get access to the chat room when your out and about with your Iphone just log onto our homepage and click on the Iphone chat scree, you will be able to log in with your current username and password.

Voice Chat !

Hi guys

As some of you might have noticed we now have voice chat on our webcam chat rooms, this gives people the opportunity to use their microphones in the chat room, if you dont have a webcam.

We have the opportunity to use broadcast too so people can hear the music your playing via your mic, we are still playing with the new voice chat settings, so it should be interesting to see how it works.

Anyone any questions about this please let me know

Orange chat or previously Freeserve and Wannado chat, has been closed down.

It seems they have major spamming problems and to improve the site would have cost a considerable amount of money they were not prepared to spend
