Chat Room Culture

Hi guys

I’m sure some of you have noticed the chat room is getting busier each month, this is due to lots of hard work.  Woc is very different to a lot of chat rooms, there is a totally different culture in our chat room.

Most chat rooms allow email and phone number trading, in fact they are usually a free for all, they also allow private messages or pms to appear on your screen without your say so.

World of Chat is different as we are a community, we don’t allow this for safety reasons I will go into this more on another post and also if someone wants to receive a pm, they have to click on an icon to open the pm, rather than it just appear in front of you !

Lets hope we keep moving forward.

New Wocchat.com

Hi guys

I know some of you guys probably already registered for www.wocchat.com and didn’t really think much to it, well I have totally redesigned the site now, and its 10 times better now.

So if you could all please re-register and have a look around, add some music and some videos, you can add stuff from you tube or Google video via the videos section (click the drop down menu stream from).

Its more of a community site than World of Chat, which is just a chat room all the conversations and messages on there are monitored, so please don’t see this as a chance to spam people or start using this site as a phone number or email exchange, cos we wont put up with that, you will get yourself banned !

Forum Record

Hi guys

We did indeed have a record on our chat forums last night, with 130 people logging into the forums throughout the day, which probably doesnt seem like a lot, but i guarentee it is a lot of people for one day.

Obviously more people login to the chat room, as they are not familair with the forums, but people are slowly learning where the forums are. lets hope we can get to 150 people in a day soon.

Faceparty Chat Closes

Hi guys

Looks like another chat room has bit the dust, Faceparty chat has been running for as long as I can remember, so I am surprised it has closed, though to be fair it was never any good, no moderation, too much spamming which made for a virtual free for all.

I found this quote from Faceparty below.

Want some good news?

We have a new thing called “fingbot” launching soon which is kinda chatt-ish, but totally different to Party Chat.

…and if you wanna meet people now, try gossip – it’s not a chat room, but once you get into it, it’s VERY addictive (like crack).

We have had some people join World of Chat as a result of Faceparty closing, so its not been such a bad thing for us, and we hope to be opening some new rooms for the extra chatters we are hoping to get.

Forum Private Messages

Hi guys

As part of our recent safety crackdown, which some people blatantly ignored lol, as there was still a lot of phone number exchanging and email exchanging going on, this site is a chat room, its not a dating site, even after telling some people on a 1 to 1 basis please dont break the rules, people still did it, which we really find hard to understand.

Forum Private Messages

We have decided for the time being to disable the private messages on the forums, as common sense tells us they are clearly using these to exchange details, since we have no way of monitoring this information, they will be disabled for the time being !

Forums Games Update

Hi guys

Some people will notice ive updated a few of the chat forum games, as I feel people were getting a bit bored of the same ones, ive removed some of the ones that were not being played, and have added some new games.

Please post on the forums and let me know what games you think are good and which ones are cack lol !

I will be awarding credits to the top blogger at the end of this month, for the top 3 bloggers the prizes will be as follows.

Aol Chat rooms – Part 2

Hi guys

I did previously write an article about Aol chat rooms and how they had closed their UK chat rooms.

I would like to make it clear that if you are an Aol customer, you will still have access to Aol chat rooms, via the Aol browser, I’m not sure how good the chat rooms are on there however, as I have never been an Aol customer !

When I originally wrote the article about Aol Chat rooms closing, I was pointing out the fact they were closed to the public in general and this is still the case, I don’t know of anyone who has joined Aol just for access to their chat rooms, maybe someone has, if you have please post on my blog, or if you have used the Aol chat rooms recently please let me know what they are like.

World of Chat – Moving Forward !

Hi guys

Its nice to see World of Chat moving forward,  after an unsettling period over the last few months, we are now established as one of the top 20 free chat rooms, which is pretty impressive, and testament to our admin Mr Woc, Tara and holly, as people have said we would never get this far, they were WRONG !

Its nice to see people of all ages mixing, this is how chat rooms should be, they should be ageless and not just full of 20 somethings all looking to chat to 20 somethings, its nice to see people chatting and not just looking for partners too.  I wont be adding local chat rooms or 20s and 30s chat rooms ever, as i feel it would ruin all this.

Just a few reminders for people, if you can try not to ignore the new people that appear in the newbies room (just saying hello to them doesn’t class as chatting to them lol !) I know some of the new people are hard work but its quite hard for some people to come into the chat room, some people have no confidence and find it scary, so you have to be persistent with a few people, some people once they find their feet come out of themselves and really become part of our community. 

This is how you keep a community like this friendly by people making the effort,  as soon as we stop doing this, we will just turn into other chat rooms and we dont want that !

The newbies room is for NEW people only, if regular people want to chat among yourselves you should really go-to the lounge, but this of course depends on how many users are logged in.

You have to realise that we work very hard to get even 1 new person to the site, and imagine if you were new ? or if you had missed out on finding this site because someone had ignored you in the chat room ?

Virtual Pets

Hi guys

I’m sure some of you have noticed our new pets section of the chat forums, I have installed a new mod, this mod enables people to grow their own pet from an egg !

I am not really giving much away about the mod, as I think part of the fun is finding out what it all does, I don’t really know how to use it that well myself lol.

I think ultimately your supposed to get the hardest pet on the forums and get them to fight, but I think most people will just enjoy having their own online pet !
